This necktie I have here is a great budget tie. They are decently made and have a nice texture to them. They also hold their form very well once you have them tied. For the cost they are about the same in price as Wal-Mart cheapy ties but these are a much better quality.


This tie is perfect for anyone that has to wear one on a daily basis. They seem to be very durable and I have not seen any wrinkling or loss of form in the 50 times I tied it. I have since added it to my tie hanger and to my selection of ties to wear.

Silicone Lids and Food Covers Review

Well to start with these are a great product. First off they are silicone and of food grade so they can be used to cover your food.  When I ordered these I got 2 in my package. One was a 10.5 and the other 6 inch lid.


I have used these on the stove to cover my pans as I am cooking. They are rated for up to 450 degrees. If you are boiling food and put this over the top it works great but when you remove it be careful and lift it so the steam will escape away from you. This is to prevent steam burns. I have used this for pan covers out a the lake to keep pests out as well. These have also been used on some bowls while I am cooking. I will chop up my red onions and jalapeno and then put the cover over the top to help prevent the tearing up. Makes it where I can do the prep work, cover it up, cry it out if I have to for an hour, then come back and cook being able to see clearly.


These lids can create a semi secure seal on the top of bowl or pan. All you have to do is place the silicone lid on top of it. Next in the center of the lid press down slightly. This will force some of the air out of the bowl or pan and then the lid will suction onto the surface creating the seal. This works extremely well for salads keeping their color longer because it is not subject to open air as long.


The bowl/pan covers come with eyelits so they can be hung right along with your pans on the rack. So if you are looking for a very good way to cover your dishes that is reusable, I would suggest looking into the covers for a good start. Table Cloth & Clamps Review

This is a table cloth made of vinyl material. It is 54x72 in. in size. Will fit most standard size picnic tables. When picking up this item you will get the table cloth and 10 clips.


The table cloth is a red and white checkered pattern. It is a very thin piece of vinyl so you need to make sure when you are putting it on the picnic table that there are not sharp objects sticking up or they will damage the table cloth when you apply any weight to that area. You also need to take notice to the side of the table where the clips attach because this can also damage the cloth if there are sharp areas. Now for the cloth it is very handy to have when you are out at the lake. Since there is no telling what the picnic table has been through and this provides a much cleaner and safer surface for you drink and foods.


This table cloth is very compact and easy to store for your outings. It is super easy to set up and use this table cloth. The only time it can be kind of a pain is if it windy, past that it is a piece of cake. What you do is spread out the table cloth and attach one end with the clips provided. From there go to the other end and pull the table cloth snug, not tight, and apply the clamps at that end. From there all it is a quick wipe down and it is set and ready to go. Since it is vinyl it is basically water proof.





I know this has come in handy for me this summer when I was at the lake. It does make for a much better surface then a beat up who knows what has been on the table top at the lake. Epica Large Digit Timer / Stopwatch Review

This is a very simple design and super easy to use stop watch/timer. It has a very large LCD display screen that can be seen from a fair distance. It has a stand leg in the back so it can be set in an upright position on a flat surface.


To start with the functions of this timer is so easy anyone can follow them. There are 3 buttons on the face of the unit. Min, sec, and, start/stop. You can program your time in buy the min. and sec. button. From there hit your start stop button to begin the timer. To clear it you need to press both the min. and sec. button together. The uses for a timer/stop watch are endless. I know I have used it for baking and for my nephew's speed training for football.


In timer mode when it hits the desired time limit an alarm will sound. This alarm sounds for 60 seconds and will continue to sound for the 60 seconds unless you manually shut it off. The alarm is not extremely loud but if you are in the next room and listening for it, it can easily be heard.


The unit came with the timer, battery, instructions manual, and a 1 year warranty when it was shipped to me. It requires 1 AAA battery to operate the timer. On the back of the unit is has a prop leg that can be extended out to sit on a flat surface in an upright position for easier reading. There is also a magnet on the back of the unit that can attach to a metal surface near or on what you have the timer set for.

Silicone Baking Cups Review

Of course this is a great product. It is silicone baking gear. In my package I got 3 normal silicone cup cake sleeves. There was a bonus cup cake mold that is designed to create a muffin top.


The 3 normal shaped cup cake sleeves will fit like normal in a muffin tin. The bonus mold will not fit in a regular muffin tin. The bonus muffin top sleeve is much thicker and can stand alone without having to put it in a tin to help it maintain its form.


Being that these are all made from silicone, of course I would recommend them. the silicone can be used in temperatures of 475 and are reusable. They are very durable and will last for a very long time. If you want to get in on the purchase for the muffin top sleeve specifically then this is a for sure buy. Salt and Pepper Grinder Set Review

This is an okay grinder offered from Elacra. The grinding ends are made of stainless steel and the housing for the spices are made from what looks like a hard clear plastic. It is a cylinder tube with dual ends for 2 different hard spices. The cylinder is about the same diameter as a 20 oz. plastic bottle.


The grinding end of this unit are made from stainless steel and have caps that are a press in fit. The cap part that is seen has a stainless stell surface and the part that press fits into the grinding unit are made of plastic. The press fit wears out on the caps pretty quickly. The one cap for my pepper would no longer fit in place, so I went out to the shed and tried spreading the plastic out a bit to make it a press fit again. This worked for a while again the plastic fit lost its hold. The grinder part is a stainless steel tube with plastic gears in it from what I been able to see. I have had no issues out of the gears and they have worked perfetcly from day one.


The holding areas for the spices are fairly large. For our family of 4 the capacity that it holds seems to be about 2 months of use for us. I have only had the grinder for a month and it is at about 1/2 full on the pepper side of my grinder. The housing is made from food grade acrylic and seems to be very solid. Sadly our family has the dropsies so it has been fumbled a few times while beind passed around the table. All of the times that it has been dropped it does not show any wear or signs of damage from being dropped.


If you are looking for a 2 in 1 grinder for your spices this is one that you could consider. I do recommend this grinder to use since the only problem I have had out of it is the cap closure on one end. That is the only reason I am giving it a 4 out of 5. Garden Digging Knife Review

Before I got this digging knife I had no idea what all it was supposed to be able to do. I did some research and this is the definition of a Hori-Hori. A Hori-Hori is: sometimes referred to as a "soil knife" or a "weeding knife", is a heavy serrated multi-purpose steel blade for gardening jobs such as digging or cutting. The blade is sharp on both sides and comes to a semi-sharp point at the end. The word “Hori” means "to dig" in Japanese and "hori-hori" is the onomatopoeia for a digging sound.


This Hori-Hori is so useful when it comes to working in your garden. I find it more useful then my small spade shovel. To start with it has a decently sharp point that pierces the ground pretty easy. Although in my neck of the woods there are a lot of rocks in the soil so be careful not to jab it in the ground if you are working in that environment because it might chip the tip. Working in fresh soil beds and things like that you do not have to worry about that at all hopefully. Now with this tool I can dig the holes to plant my seeds and I can dig them all to the same depth because there is a ruler on the inside of the knife to measure the depth. Now the other nice use for the tip is digging out weeds with it, it makes getting the roots and all a little easier.


There are also 2 cutting surfaces to this Hori-Hori knife. One serrated and the other a regular edge. Neither of these are super sharp but they are good enough to cut small branches with the serrated edge and the larger weeds with either side. The blade is also curved like a shovel which makes it a little bit easier to do your digging.


Now for the handle. It is formed to the knife so it is going to last a very long time. It is made from a hard plastic and offers a very comfortable grip and a small hit to keep your hand from sliding down and injuring yourself as you are digging. Lastly and the only complaint I have about this Hori-Hori knife and that is with the sheath provided for it. The sheath has a belt clip on it but it does seem to be very cheaply made. It can be somewhat problematic when putting the knife back into it because it is so flimsy.


If you are in the market for a really good digging knife for your plants or garden then this a great knife to consider. It will meet all of your needs for a utility tool to use in your garden. SKORCH Messenger bag Review

This is the ultimate travle bag. I know it says messenger bag like the postal carriers used to carry. This thing is spacious and well built. It appears to be very durable and enough room for the perfect weekender bag.


First off we will start with all of the storage space. The first one to mention is the zipper in the back it is a large and deep enough pocket that I put my 10" tablet in. Next you lift the front flap and there are 2 button pockets there. I use these to hold my charging equipment in one pocket and my personal care items in the other. It fits my  brush, tootbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, flossers, deodorant, body spray, and cologne. then opening the large compartment there is a sipper along the back of the bag that I use for my other not commonly used personal care items. Now on the front side of this large inside compartment are 2 small pockets that do not zip closed. I use these to put a pair of socks in each one. Lastly onto the large compartment I put 2 pair of shorts, 2 boxers, 2 shirts, 1 pair of pants, and my Sudoko puzzle book. I still have room to spare if there is any other items I might need to take along.


The bag is constructed out of high quality cotton canvas and feels like denim to me. So from there you know that it is somewhat durable just from the material it is made from. Next the zippers appear to be stitched well and does not look like they tried to put it together as cheaply as possible. The cover over the top snaps into place to hold your items in place. Most of the pockets have a leather lining around them or they have snaps to hold the flaps securely. The main carry strap is very long and will go over the top of the head to the opposite shoulder which makes it really difficult for some one to bag snatch it from you.


This is a bag that, I as a man actually feel comfortable carrying for luggage. With it being uses as a luggage bag you do not have to fight with a hardside case that does not give when storing.  I think it would be a bit large for an everyday bag though. This bag would be an amazing diaper bag. There are pockets for everything bottles, diapers, wipes, toys, snacks, food, changes of clothes. The only downside I have found to this bag is that it is a soft side and does not protect the contents as well as the normal hard cases.

Rusted Rails Book Review

This is a book from author Barry Jones. This is an average length book at a little over 300 pages. Currently it is availabel in e-book and paper back. The story is very well written and the plot flows smoothly through out the book. For the book was really slow to start but it does pick up nicely.


This is a story set in the 1920's in a small coal mining town in Tennesse. It is 4 hours away from Nashville by rail at 15 mph. Rusted Rails is about a families stuggle when the dad dies, the corruption of the mine owners, the mob, and abortion. All of corruption was brought to the attention of others by a news paper journalist who soon finds out he has put his on safety in jepordy with his publications. Enough, no true spoiler here!


This is a great fictional piece from the era of the 20's. It has very apporpiate description of events from the era. There are also some very neat pictures from the 20's in the back of the book. If you are looking for a great book based on a fictional past, Rusted Rails is a great read to add to that list. 2-in-1 LED Work Light Flashlight Review

This is a fairly nice light to have around. It is portable and light weight. It is also a great light source. There are 3 settings to this work light. In my box with my light it came with the 2-n-1 work light and batteries.


This work light has 3 setting modes for the lights. There is the side panel work light, a flash light at the end, and of course off mode. Now how this light works every other click turns the light to off mode. The opposite clicks of those switch between the work light and flash light settings.


The housing of this flash light is made of a light weight plastic with a rubber coating. There is also a swivle mount on the handle so you can direct the way the light is pointing from the magnetic end. I have used this to work on my truck. I attached the magnet part to the under side of my truck hood and it was able to hold its own weight. The only downside is the magnets are not overly strong, they are barely enough to hold the light. One simple bump and it will become dislodged and fall. So you have to be mindful of its position and not bump it to many times or I am sure the light weight plastic will begin to give.

Lazy Lidz Sleep Mask Review

This sleep mask is a Satin sleeping eye mask that won't get stuck to your pillowcase, make your face feel hot, or bunch up during the night. Soft cotton velvet lining feel great against the skin. It has a velcro strap in the back that can tighten or losen the mask as needed for the most comfort. It also comes with 2 ear plugs to help block out surrounding noises while you sleep.


The mask is very comfortable, light weight, and easy to apply. The material the mask is made out of makes it conform to your face and actually blocks out all of the light unlike most on the market that still allow light to seep in. I personally do not like how the mask fits over my eye lids. There is not a cupping area to give your eyelashes room to move with out dragging them along the inside surface. I am not one of these people that fall asleep quickly so my eyes open and close alot while I am working on going to sleep. Having my eyelashes drag on the inside did not help me get to sleep any quicker.


Now for the Velcro strap in the back. It is very easy to adjust to your needed pressure for the sleep mask against your face. It is Velcro so be prepared for it to stick to your hair some as you are taking off the mask. In the strap there is also a place for the 2 ear plugs to set in for storage while the mask is not in use. The ear plugs are not a very high NR rating because they do not block out much sound at all. You will be able to easily hear what is going on around you still. I think the purpose is to block out the low sounds like your furnace/ac unit noises and things like that. If the fire alarm goes off or your regular alarm clock goes off you will still be able to hear it well.


If you are in the market for a sleep mask that has a comfortable feeling to your skin and blocks out the light for a better nights rest. This will sleep mask will provide what you are wanting. Microfiber Wash Mitt Review

These cleaning mitts are so cool. They can be used as a wet or dry cleaning cloth. If you use when wet, for instance, washing the body of your car it will not scratch the paint because it is a micro fiber cloth. When you use it as a dry cloth it is much like the swiffer cloths at attracting the dust to the cloth.

My nephew got to try out these gloves on a nice rainy day! We put some soap in a bucket and he put the mitts on. From there he went to work wiping the body of the truck down. The mitts worked flawlessly and made it so much easier then a traditional cloth. I had so much fun teasing with the wax on / wax off comments from the Karate Kid movie. After completing the cleaning of the truck we too the mitts into the house to be washed. In a couple days after the mitts had more then ample time to dry we tested the dusting part of the mitts. These mitts worked well for dusting but the cloth ends tend to get snagged on corners a lot. For me I will stick to using them in the rain to give my truck a more detailed clean.

Personally I wash mine in a normal load but I put my micro fiber towels into a delicates bag to prevent them from getting lint balls all over them. Once the wash cycle is done I take my micro fiber cloths and hang them to dry and then I add my fabric sheet to the dryer for the rest of the load.

Silicone Oven Mitts Review

This is my first pair of silicone oven mitts. I have had the other silcone gloves that have all the finger individually. To be honest I think I like these mitts over those simply because the mitts have a cloth padding inside. As you can see from the picture I have my mother with her hand in the glove and one on the outside. She has very small hands so it works great even if you have small hands.


The mitts having a full silicone outside coating makes it where you can use them for more then hot pans out of the oven. They will protect from things like steam burns and spalsh burns that might occur. The silicone is super flexible and wraps around the edge of a pan, handles, or lids with out any problems. Personally I have used them in the kitchen to move hot pans from the oven, dumping my boiling mac & cheese water to the strainer, and outside at the grill. Each and every time these gloves have protected my hands and prevented me from any types of burns.


For care of these gloves I put them on and run hot water and wash them directly under the running water to clean the outside. This method seems to work great at getting any stuck on food particles broke free from the gloves. I do try my best to stay a couple inches from the cloth insides while doing this. I do not want to mess that up at all since it is so nice and soft.

V-Thunder Pickup Electric RC Truck Review

Well it is a good starter remote control for a small child. It is a 1:14 scale 4x4 truck frame. My package came with the V-Thunder truck, battery charger, rechargeable battery, and remote.


To start with the body of the truck is made out of plastic that has taken a little abuse from me and has held up well. The front bumper of the truck is a solid hard plastic that does not have a lot of ground clearance so it makes it difficult for the truck to climb. Next, the gear box is in a sealed case which is very important for any RC. There are a lot of lights that are on when it is powered up all over the underneath of the body.


The remote has a few features to mention. Of course you have your forward and reverse control on the left and the control on the right to steer with. There are also 3 other buttons on the remote: 1.) demo 2.) horn 3.) music. The demo send the truck into doing its own little dance until you hit the throttle button which is kind of cool. The next is the horn which does exactly that, it honks at you! Lastly the music, I was all geared for this until I found out it is only 2 songs and there is no way to add an actual short tune of your own.


As you push the remote throttle to accelorate it makes an engine racing noise. When you chose to back up with the truck it beeps like a UPS truck to let you know it is in reverse. Now for the truck it shows on the box 4x4 and all of that. It simply is not a 4x4 in any way shape or form. It also states off road use, well if your off road is some grass over a couple inches tall, or a rock about half the size of a golf ball you will not be happy with how this RC performs off road. I really recommend only a flat surface for this to run on since it does not do well on off road at all. The RC does have a little bit of spunk to it though. If you punch it from a stop to full throttle it can throw some sand with the tires.


The main thing that I have found that I like the least about this truck is all the battery areas have screws in them which is very time consuming and a real pain since they are so small. I have spent a very long time looking for an aux. plug in for doing the recharging on the truck battery and have been unable to locate one. This would have been a great addition so you would not have to remove the plate everytime you wanted to charge it.

Electric Pencil Sharpener Review

Okay I am guilty! The first thing going through my head was Family Guy where Peter is at work and running pencils to the nub over and over just for the fun of it. So now for the facts about this sharpener. This thing is actually really nice to have around and super easy to use.


To start with the sharpener has a power cable that connects to a USB port so it can virtually be used anywhere from that alone. It also has the option of using 4 AA batteries to power it. I did not notice any difference in the chewing power to sharpen my pencils between the batteries or being plugged in and powered.


Now to sharpen a pencil with this unit. It comes with a few rules that you should follow for best results. First off try to have it set on a solid flat surface. Next do not try to sharpen a pencil with the sharpener laying on its side or inverted. From there it is stick a pencil in the top of the sharpener and it will grind down and let you know when it is done. I used the standard no. 2 pencil in this with out any troubles at all. The last part of sharpening a pencil in this unit is setting how broad you want the lead to be. There are 3 different settings to choose from when sharpening the pencil. The sharpener will aslo not work if the shavings tray is not fully in place and attached to the unit. This is a pretty nice safety feature to prevent injuries.

Terminal Justice (E-book review)

This is a book that is rated as a suspense/thriller. It is a fairly lengthy book with a little over 350 pages on my reader. The book is available in e-book and paper back currently. I do agree with this being a suspense book I did find a lot of this through out the book which kept me very interested. The plot to the book is very well thought out and it does move along at a good enough pace to keep the reader involved almost the whole time.


A short breakdown of the book. It is about a prosecuting attorney that loses a case on putting criminal in jail. Then that criminal turns around and kills his wife and leaves the attorney paralized. From there the attorney starts a killing business using terminal patients to kill the criminals that walk from loop holes in the system.
Over all the book is a great read. The only thing that I found as a draw back to this story is some of the characters are fairly boring. When these areas hit the edge of my seat suspense wains a bit until the story draws you back in.


If you are looking for a decent suspense/thriller story to read this will fit the bill. It offers a very good and interesting story line.
