These things are totally awesome. They are great for grabbing almost anything that is hot. I have used them as pot holders to sit pans on, I have used them as a cooling station for my pies from the oven, I have used them to grab hot lids off of the pans cooking on the stove, and I have used them for under my cutting board.
Of course they are great for sitting hot pans from the stove top and oven. They are also so flexible that you can use them like your old cloth pot holders to grab the pans. You will actually have a better grip then with the cloth ones since these are silicone and make it a more slip free grip. I have noticed these work as well as cooling racks for pies because of the honeycomb pattern they have to disipate the heat. Now for using it under my cutting board, it grabs the counter top and the bottom of the board at the same time making it stay in place so much better.
Cleaning these pot holders are super easy. You can wash them in your normal sink water or dishwasher. The only thing I have noticed is that you have to lay them flat to dry. Since the honeycombs hold water and it is silicone, the water can hold and stand there for what seems forever. So you lay it flat to give the under side time to dry then flip it over to dry the other side. I usually take a towel and dab the top of it to soak up any free standing water.
