This is a very handy kitchen gadget to have around. Makes using fresh garlic a lot easier. The garlic press is made from stainless steel. The press is very easy to operate and clean.
If you have ever tried to use fresh garlic by crushing it with the blade of a knife then you know the pain. This removes all the pain from that process. Simply pull off the husk enough to get a clove broke loose. You do not have to peel the clove to use the press. Next you place the clove of garlic in the round bowl area of the press and squish the garlic with the plunger. Then the garlic comes out of the mincer area with out the skin and ready for use.
Now for cleaning the press it is very simple. It is stainless steel so it is dishwasher safe if you want to go that route. I use warm soapy water and a dish cloth. Now this press have the removeable mincer that makes it very easy to clean. If you leave a bit of the skin on the clove when you press, it will be in them mincer cup. It is very easy to remove from the cup. I use a tooth pick since I have huge hands and can not get my fingers in there to pull it out. I just hook the skin and it comes right out.
The only thing that I do not like about the press is the plunger for the press. It works fine but sometimes you have to, for a better word, jiggle it or it can bind up on the press. It is only because the plunger does start in at a bit of an awkward angle. There is nothing really wrong with it but it can bind up on you if you are in a hurry and you may have to spend an extra 5 seconds getting it to press your garlic. Not a huge leak in time but worth mentioning.
If you are looking for a garic press this is one that you should consider. It is very inexpensive, the press does nicely with mincing your garlic, super easy to clean, and has a removeable mincer bowl.
