This is a scanner to read what is going on with your check engine light on your dashboard if it is lit up. This unit comes with an instructions page, the scanner, and software CD. Sadly it does not work with my truck but this unit will have a place in my tool box for many years.
It does not work with all vehicles. The scanner does work with a lot of vehicles though. It works with my parents cars and I have friends cars that come by asking me what is going on with theirs. So it is all good and has great use around my house and for my friends. This is designed to set up with most android devices as well. It uses bluetooth technology to transmit to the android device you install the software on. There are a lot of apps you can install as well that this will work with as well. Some of them do cost money but there are free ones that you can use with this scanner.
This scanner can save you and your friends lots of time and money. Most shops still charge to hook a scanning tool to diagnose your check engine light. I know some places like O'Reilly's has started doing free scans, but with a check engine light on do you really want to drive a long distance with out seeing what is wrong. Once you have gotten your read out you can look up the code to see what the light is on for. Once you have fixed the issue you can do a reset on the check engine light and it will go out. If the problem persists it will come back on. If you have an issue with multiple codes, I recommend doing a reset on the check engine light. Then take the vehicle out on the road and get it up to 45 to 60 mph until the check engine light comes on again. Then redo the scan since some of the codes can stack from one code and show a lot more wrong with your car then there really is.
