Ceramic Chef's Knife 8 Inch Review

This is my first Ceramic knife. I am actually very impressed with how well it performs. It is very sharp, lightweight, and holds it edge. The knife came in a flip top box that you can use to store it in if you have no safe place to keep it.

Well about 100 years ago when I was a teen, I worked in a country club kitchen. This is where I learned how to sharpen, how to cut, chop, and prepare meats with my knives. We had to purchase our own knives and take care of them. All my knives were bought as a single buy and I kept them in a roll out protector. With that being said, I have used this ceramic knife to cut onions, apples, and boneless meats. I have started to reach for this knife over the rest of the knives in my selection of knives.

Like any other knife if you abuse them they will lose their edge quickly. You should always use a cutting board for startes. Next try to avoid setting the knife down on the edge of the blade between uses, espcially on steel surfaces. Next thing is try to avoid cutting into the bones of meat because this can also effect the edge. Lastly, try not to cut into frozen foods because that is like cutting into a bone.

I have been using this knife now for a month now and it does not appear to be losing its edge at all. Keeping an edge is very important becuase you will cut yourself more often with a dull knife and usually much worse. It works that way because you are having to use more pressure with a dull knife to prepare your foods. I have not had to sharpen the knife yet since it has held its edge so well. I shapen my knives with a whet stone only because all of the electronic shapeners usually do more damage then good to an edge. The knife has a silicone handle which makes it a very comfortable fit while using the knife. It is also molded to the knife so you do not have to worry about the bolts in the handle holding left of food particles and possibly transferring harmful germs.
