I picked up this light because I am one of those people that start grilling after the sun goes down so I am not baked along with what is cooked on my grill. This light is extremely bright in the dark and lights up the entire grill area. It creates a full bright area to work in with no shadowing or trying to dodge around some flood lights mounted on the deck. The on/off button on the unit is very very sensitive to touch. Which makes it nice for when your hands are full because you can use the bridge of your hand to turn it on/off. Makes it where I dont have to sit the things I am carrying down to turn it on and off. This grill light is also made of a fairly strong plastic so it can take a little bit of abuse from the occasional drop from the fumble fingers helping you out.
How this unit works is easy and simple. First off you need a small screwdriver to remove the battery plate. Once you have the plate off you insert 3 AA batteries into the unit. There is a pull strap to make sure you put under the batteries to make them easier to remove. After the batteries are in you replace the cover and screw it back down into place. Then it has a C-clamp that is attached to the back side of the unit. This makes it easy to attach to almost any kind of grill handle. The other use I have thought that would be great to have this for is bike riders. It is very light weight and I know at times I have been out riding before and lost track of time and finished my ride back in the dark. With the C-clamp you could attach it to a bar on the bike and be able to see what you are riding into. At night those pot holes can sneak up and dump you pretty easy.
For as great as this light appears to be, I have some small reservations about it. For one it is recommended to not leave it out over night or for it to get much moisture. To me this is something that should be more able to withstand the elements since it is meant for being used outside. The only other thing that I find kind of a pain is the C-clamp actually wheels in and out slowly. This makes it take a little longer to clamp in place then I like since it has be taken down to protect it.
