Okay to start off this is a really cool device to have around the shop. It is a solar powered trickle charger for maintaining a battery. Upon ordering this you will get the solar pad, a lighter plug adapter, a jumper cable connector, and 4 suction cups.
To start off with I use this as a trickle charger for my 1 ton truck. This truck is only driven about every 3 weeks. I have to keep a trickle charger on it full time so the battery does not gain dead cells. The charger I use is plugged into a 110 wall socket using the electricity. This solar charger removes the use of electricity to maintain my battery.
There are a few ways you can mount this to gain the solar abilities of the panel. First off there are 4 suction cups that you attach to the rings on the sleeve. Then you can press the suction cups onto the window for direct sunlight. Next there are 2 straps that are kind of like rubber bands. It is possible to put these around the sun visor and then turn the visor to the sun for charging needs.
Now this is not a charging device for a dead battery. It will not run a dead battery to get you in if it has died on the side of the road. It simply does not create that much charge. It is a very slow charger for keeping batteries from being wasted.
The concept of how this solar panel works is great. However it would have been nice if there would have been some instructions on how everything is supposed to work and what it was truly designed to achieve. A detailed care instructions would have been nice to make sure to keep it in the best working condition. I know that it is somewhat weather resistant but I would not suggest laying out in the rain since it is in fact dealing with a form of energy.
If you are in the market for a great device for around the shop to maintain your battery life this is one I suggest picking up. It offers solar charging so you do not bleed your electricity, many options for mounting, and very easy to use.
