8" Chef's Knife Review

This is a very impressive knife. It offers balance, a sharp blade, and longevity of edge. This is an 8" blade made from steel that carries all the way to through the handle. Upon ordering this knife it comes in a box you can use to store it in, a tip protector, and the knife.

To start with this nice has some weight to it. I do not mean clunky or bulky, but offers enough weight where you do not have to force it through what you are cutting. If anyone has picked up some of those ceramic knives you know what I am talking about being so light that you have to force the blade through and becomes dangerous. The weight is also very well balanced so the weight it does have makes it extremely easy to wield. With the weight in the blade it also reduces fatigue when doing a lot of prep work or hours of use.

Now the edge of the blade is very sharp. The blade being a little bit thicker then most makes it hold the edge much longer. As I was trying out this knife I cut up a few peppers, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and some carrots. The knife and no issues with any of these for slicing and dicing purposes. I was able to set the knife blade on top of the onion and draw it back towards me and the weight of the blade and the back motion virtually cut the onion for me.

The design of this knife is very nice when it comes to comfort. Since the blade goes from tip to base of the knife it helps greatly with the balance of the knife. This is very important to make sure you can maintain keeping your fingers attached. The handle has a coating that almost feels like rubber in your hand. This is very nice because it makes you have a softer touch with the blade without realizing you are doing it. This coating is also great to make sure you do not have temperature transfers from the blade to your hand if you are using it in more extreme temperatures. It also allows you to forget your knife under a heat lamp at a carving station and not burning your hand when you pick it back up.

Once you remove the tip protector from the tip of the knife I recommend throwing it away. If you have a really steady hand you can attempt to put it back on but remember the blade is very sharp and not that important if you keep it in the box it was sent in or something similar. The next thing on care of the knife is making sure once you wash it to dry it because if you leave it to air dry and water left on the knife can and will leave water marks. I would also make a recommendation to using a whet stone system to put the edge back on the blade. One of the electric or drag through type of sharpeners could actually do damage to the blade.

If you are looking for a very nice chef's knife this is one I suggest picking up. It offers a great edge, comfort grip, balance, and some weight for easier cutting. I would like to thank HappyMoon Home Essentials and affiliates for sending me this superb chef's knife to try out and share my opinion.
