Finding Noah (movie review)

This is a documentary about climbing crews set to tackle Mt. Ararat in search of the Ark. In the mix of interviewing the climbers looking for the Ark there are many Scholars and Theologins interviewed as well. The film is a little over 1 1/2 hours in length. It is a decent quality filming for a documentary. It is not choppy with frame breaks. It flows smoothly through out the entire show. The narrator is Gary Sinise through the film as well. Do they find the Ark? Watch to find out!

It starts of with some history of the area from the civil wars to the ancient empires that controlled the areas. It  talks about the conflicts currently going on in the area around Mt. Ararat. It tells of the dangers the climbers face just getting to the mountain from current conflicts. Including at any time they may be shot, killed, or even captured with out having any control. It describes how the military is with them to a certain point of the journey and once it gets to a point they stop going with the climbers because it will be to dangerous to contiue as a military focre. From there the climbers are on their own, there is not rescue or help if they get into trouble.

Next they go into to the stories from many different cultures about an Ark and a great flooding. This account is from hundreds of years apart and different areas of the world. Most of these stories are very similiar in their accounts of the flooding and the Ark. Along in this they have the stories of previous climbers claiming to have seen the Ark on many differnt climbs over hundreds of years. It also goes into how many spy planes have taken pictures of a ship like image trapped in the ice.

What I like most about the entire film is the views from the mountain. Second to me is the showing of the many storms and how the environment on the mountain can change so quickly. It goes into detail on the terrain for climbing and what all is required. It really does a great job of showing how dangerous this climb is to undertake. Once they were to the summit they start using ground penetrating radar to see if they can find anything located in the ice. If they find anything while from the radar they start drilling in hopes to locate anything. There are a lot of false readings because it is ice they are trying to look through ice. The radar is very important for giving them something to go off of with the mentioning of unique patterns. Otherwise it would be an even bigger hunt for the needle in the haystack.

If you like documentaries based on religeous hunts, this is for sure one to check out. If you are looking for a good story about climging Mt. Ararat this covers that as well. For me I was more interested in nature and how much of a force it truly can be. I would like to thank #Flyby and affiliates for allowing me an early screening and the chance to offer my opinion of the movie Finding Noah. This movie becomes available on 10/08/2015.
