Non-stick Grill Mats Review

This is a nice set of grill mats. There are three in the box that I ordered. These mats are a great thing to use for any grill and can be used in the oven as well. The mats are fairly easy to clean up after you get done using them. They are fairly durable and I usually get a couple months of grilling out of the mats before I have to replace them. That is on an average of grilling at least once per week. The over all cost of the mats versus tin foil saves me a lot of money.

To start with these mats can be cut down to fit even the smallest of grills. The way they are desinged it does not hurt the mats at all when cut down. I have one that I cut down to use in my convection microwave for when I bake cookies. I do not have to worry about them sticking to the pan or adding butter or spray to keep them from sticking. Next I have one that I use on my grill, I did not have to cut this one down to fit my grill because the size of my grill is a little bit larger then the mats.
Now for the non-stick part of the mats. If you are grilling out and you spread suace across the meat to cook. The sauce has a tendency to burn to the meat and then stick to the mat. To fix this issue I took a hole punch and every couple of inches I put a small hole in the mat. This lets the juices escape and it does not burn the sauces to the meat as easily.

These mats are great for those that go camping at the lake and use the grill stands that some of them have. These work as a perfect cover and then you do not have to use up 1/2 a roll of tin foil to cook. These mats can roll up pretty small and do not take up a lot of space so they are ideal for camping trips. I have used these mats to cook almost anything you can think of on them. From corn on the cobb to shrimp kabobs and the mats do a really good job of putting your grill marks to the meat without having to put the meat directly to the grill.

When it comes to clean up the mats are fairly easy to work with. For me I have found that while the mat is still hot to shake it lightly to get most of the larger chunks off the mat. I then let it cool almost completely and then use my garden hose to clean it outside because the soot from the charcoal can track everywhere on the path inside the house. From there I use a green scratch pad to lightly scrub the mat. DO NOT put a lot of force to the scrubber or it can damage the mat. The first time I used the mat I took it inside to clean and wash it with warm water and a little bit of soap. This is where I discovered I needed a better plan then in the house! These mats are also dishwasher safe, I do not think that is a good course of action to clean the mat because of the soot and it would be a chore to clean the dishwasher afterwards.

If you are looking for a better way to grill or bake with, these mats are a great addition to your cooking aresonal. They are non-stick for the most part unless you give it something sugar based to broil in but as long as you keep the mat scraped as you are cooking and very light on the sauces they are very much non-stick. I would like to thank Leesan for sending me these Ohuhuh grilling mats to try out and share my opinion.
