IPX5 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker Review

To start with IPX5 means: able to withstand water splashed from all directions. I had to look it up to know what that actually meant. Upon ordering this speaker it came with the speaker, micro USB to USB charging cable, and an instructions page.

Being it is an IPX5 rating it makes it great for in the shower, on the beach, or in a boat. I am not sure how well it would survive being submerged for any length of time. I would suggest that if you do accidently submerge the speaker to put it in a sealed container with a cup of rice for a couple of weeks to draw all of the moisture out before powering it back up just to be safe. Personally I have it attached to my boat keys with a D hook and my small float. I use it while I am out and about on the boat to listen to my music since fishing at times can get really boring. Although the worst day fishing is better than any day not fishing!

On the side of the speaker there are 4 control buttons. Up and Down volume control, power on/off button, and a pause/play button. I discovered that with the volume controls on the speaker will only take the speaker to about 40% max volume. However from my tablet as I increased the volume it got much louder. A lot louder then I ever expected from this speaker. I pushed the speaker to 100% for a few minutes to see if any distortion would be heard. I was unable to hear any distortion at all with the speaker at max. After that I turned it back down to a listening level versus a jam out level. Like I tell everyone else when it comes to music speakers it is best to not push the speakers at more then 80%  for long periods of time to preserve the speaker quality. Next if you are going to push it to 100% do it only for a couple of songs maybe to check the decible level and then drop it back down. Next is the pause/play button with this you can actually hit this button to answer an incoming call and talk through the speaker. So if you have an important phone call coming in you can answer it basically anywhere virtually hands free other then to press the button to start the call. The on/off button is evident!

Next is charging this speaker. I tried it out on many different devices to charge the speaker. I was able to charge it from my laptop USB port, Desktop tower USB port, back up battery charger, wall mount USB charger, and from my lighter plug charger in my car. The first charge took about an hour to get it to max. From there on out it takes about 30 minutes to complete a charge. The first charge only made it for about 5 hours and 45 minutes, but the rest have been over 6 hours and 30 minutes on average.

Now for the sound quality it is pretty much typical of this size of speaker. It does offer a full range sound including tweet, mids, and bass. Understand that this is not a 15 inch sub woofer, it is not a hard driving bass speaker. It offers a much better tweet and mid range sounds then bass. These types of speakers are designed to listen to music at a reasonable level to pass the time. It is loud enough that it you can play it while in the shower and hear it over the water beating down on you in the shower.
At the top of the speaker there is a silicone half moon hook. This works perfect to attach it to a D hook or maybe soemthing like a shower brush hook attached to the wall of the shower. When it comes to pairing the unit it is super easy to get it to pair to your unit. Take a minute when you get it and read the instructions it will tell you what device name to look for to pair it easily. Select that when pairing and put in the password and it pairs. Took about 3 seconds for it to pair up and start playing my playlist from my tablet. I paired this to my tablet, cell phone, and laptop. I had zero issues with it pairing to any of these devices and the speaker paired up very quickly.

If you are in the market for a decent speaker that is bluetooth capable I suggest looking into this speaker. It has  good sound and puts off a lot of sound if needed. It is light weight can compact as well it fits nicely in my shirt pocket and does not pull on my shirt from weight. It only weights a few ounces at most. I would like to thank  GRANDSHINE and affiliates for sending this speaker to try out and share my opinion.
