This is your standard multi sided cheese grater. It is a six sided grater. The grater offers 4 differnt shredding options and 2 different slicing options. This grater is made of stainless steel on the grating surfaces.
To start with the desing and build of the grater. The surface areas of the grater are made from stainless steel. This makes it easy to clean. It also makes the grating edges hold their edge longer. The handle at the top is made from plastic. The handle is actually large enough that you are not fighting between you hands for enough room to use the grater. Around the base of the grater there is a silicone cover which makes it more non slip while you are using the grate. Sadly this is your typical multi surface grater when it comes to the steel area of the grater. It is not over thick and does flex if you put any pressure on the surface.
The grater offers six total sides to grate from. There are 2 slicer types. You have the standard slicer and you have one that adds a wavy texture to your slices. Then there are 4 different sizes for shredding. They range in differnt sizes depending on the thickness of the material you are shredding is how you decide which side is best for getting the job completed.
Cleaning the grater is really easy. I use warm water and soap after I use my sprayer to knock any remaining chunks off of the grater. Then I carefully use my wash cloth over the surface otherwise it will shred your wash cloth. From there I set it in the drainer to air dry. The grater is also dishwasher safe if you have that option. Also the silicone sleeve that goes around the base is removable so you can make sure to get the left over pieces out of there as you are cleaning it as well.
If you are looking for a grater for cheese, carrots, radishes, or potatoes to mention a few things you can prep with this grater and its ability to get the job done. It is not the highest grade grater but it is more then durable enough for the standard kitchen. In other words this is not built for commercial grade grating.
